I hope you enjoyed the warm weather at the weekend, we had our first BBQ of the year and spotted with it our first wasps. It is still early for wasps to be around in large numbers, but a few more weekends like this and they will be invading our outdoor living space again. Getting rid of a wasp nest is always a hazardous occupation and should be left to the professionals. Check out our link through to the British Pest Control Association for a professional close to you. If you are lucky enough not to have a wasp nest the keeping wasps away from your BBQ or picnic area can be simple and effective. Two pesticide free solutions include a traditional wasp trap which you can fill with fruit juice or squash. The wasps fly in but cannot get out again and the relatively new Waspinator which arrived last years from the USA where over 250,000 have been used. It is already proving popular again this year. The Waspinator mimics a wasp nest so wasps fly away as they are territorial creatures and will not go near another nest. Happy and wasp free BBQs and Picnics from Pest Free Home.

Did you see our very own Bed Bug expert David Cain of Bed-Bugs Limited on Newsround on Friday 17th April? Check it out on I-player.
David was being asked about the spread of Bed bugs in the USA and explained that the problem is growing here in the UK at a very fast rate too. The good news he said is that they don’t carry any diseases, but they can give a nasty series of bites, if you are unlucky enough to get bitten. On PestFreeHome we have a simple Bed Bug Kit that is easy to use and it is pesticide free as it uses a special substance called diatomaceous earth that just dries up the bed bugs. Look out for David again on the TV soon and for the new book: BED BUGS BEWARE – An easy to understand guide to bed bugs, their prevention and control written by our experts David and Richard which will be sold exclusively on Pest Free Home in the next few weeks. Why not use the Contact Us page on the site to leave us a message to contact you as soon as the book is released. Be Bed Bug Aware and check out the site Bed Bug Beware for more information.

You can tell the weather is getting warmer, the insects are returning. We have had a significant number of orders for moth products over the last couple of weeks. The problem seems to be clothes moths in wardrobes. We are lucky to have such a good range of simple and easy to use products for moth control, such as the popular Rentokil Clothes Moth Strip and the triangular Clothes Moth Trap that needs simple assembly.
I am surprised as we usually expect to sell clothes moth products in the autumn when they are more visible. Perhaps you are all wrapping up and sealing your sweaters in plastic bags for the summer. If you are, a good product to use is our quality Woodlore Cedar Wood range. Cedar wood is known to deter moths in the same way as our grandparents used Campher Oil. Cedar wood products are better to handle, look good, don’t stain the clothes and don’t leave a persistent odour. We have them shaped as hearts, blocks and balls as well as drawer liners. Check them out!
If you are still not sure about what the pest why not order our handy British Pest Control Association guide - The A-Z of Pests. This useful booklet is full of good pest pictures, descriptions and tips about prevention and control .
